    October 30, 2013

Vitamins are essential for a strong and healthy body, but did you know that certain vitamins are also essential for healthy and glowing skin? Your skin can benefit not only form the vitamins you consume from vitamin-rich foods and vitamin supplements, but also from the vitamins you put on the skin itself.

With some smart vitamin strategies, your skin can become radiant, youthful, even younger looking. If you feed your skin inside and out you will surely have healthy and glowing skin for a lifetime. So what vitamins do you need to get healthy and glowing skin? Here, a list of the most essentials vitamins.

    • Vitamins C and E significantly improve skin’s health because they counter the damaging effects of sun exposure. Prolonged sun exposure causes skin to become dry, wrinkled, and prematurely old. It can also lead to skin cancer. To keep skin healthy and glowing in spite of exposure to the sun, apply Vitamin C directly on your skin in the form of a topical Vitamin C cream to penetrate skin’s layers and repair sun damage. To give your skin a total Vitamin C boost, be sure to consume foods rich in Vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, and dark leafy greens. You might also benefit from taking Vitamin C supplements, between 500 and 1,000 mg per day. Make sure you consume foods rich in Vitamin E to help skin stay healthy and glow, such as vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, olives, spinach, and asparagus. But it is very hard to consume enough Vitamin E-rich foods regularly, so in addition, take a 400 mg Vitamin E supplement each day. If skin seems particularly dry, open a Vitamin E capsule and spread the gel directly on your skin.
    • Vitamin A is also an essential vitamin to keep skin healthy and glowing, as a lack of Vitamin A leaves skin dry and flaky. Vitamin A maintains and repairs skin tissue, so adding it topically can result in a real improvement in your skin. You may notice your acne disappearing, your wrinkles smoothing, and your psoriasis lessening, all because of a skin care cream rich in Vitamin A.
    • Vitamin B complex may be the most important vitamin for your skin. Biotin, found in B vitamins, is a nutrient that forms the basis of skin, nail, and hair cells. Without enough biotin, your skin suffers. So be sure to get your biotin in oatmeal, bananas, eggs and rice, and apply biotin directly on your skin in a cream or lotion. The result: Skin shimmers almost instantly with a healthy glow, retains moisture, stays smooth, and looks younger in less than a week!
    • Vitamin K. To transform dark circles under your eyes into healthy, glowing skin, try using a Vitamin K cream.

This combination of vitamins can reduce photo-damage from the sun’s rays, smooth wrinkles, keep skin moist, and enrich skin’s texture, making it healthy and glowing.
